Desire Is King? Posted in: Perfection in Seeming Imperfection, Suffering and an all-powerful benevolent God

Premise: God is perfect and therefore everything that comes from God is perfect. Us and this world included.

How so?

Especially if you regard this world as primarily a place of suffering.

I propose that at least part of the perfection of this place is that here, where it serves us* to whole-heartedly believe something to be true, no matter how objectively far fetched, we will find that something believable. Almost to the point of obvious truth (i.e. 2+2=4). However, in many cases that fact-certainty may include the idea that I am my body, or God does not exist. Therefore I speculate that desire is king, not truth, and is desire that governs what we go on to embrace as truth. And this is what God responds to and facilitates. Bhagavad gita 15:15 states

sarvasya cāhaṁ hṛdi sanniviṣṭo
mattaḥ smṛtir jñānam apohanaṁ …

I am seated in everyone’s heart, and from me come remembrance, knowledge and forgetfulness ….

For me this fits well with a believed positive divinity of the soul compared to us being, for example, unapproved, fallen, banished, trapped here. And the arrangement can be seen as perfect if one understands us and this world as a place for exploration of divinity from myriad points of views rather than a negative place of suffering. Thus my God is perfect… premise survives, and I might not be wrong.
